Who We Are:

The Union Presbyterian Seminary Library provides print and electronic resources as well as library instruction to support the curricular needs and research activities of Union Presbyterian Seminary. Within the bounds of this focus, the Library also offers resources to church leaders, congregations, and visiting researchers for their study and growing understanding of Christian faith and practice.

The policies linked below are designed to: 

  • support the educational mission of Union Presbyterian Seminary
  • ensure maximum access to the collection for all patrons
  • preserve the collection
  • abide by consortial agreements with libraries involved in the OCLC interlibrary loan system, and with other partner libraries
  • permit access to the library’s collection to individuals in the church and to visiting scholars interested in pursuing serious research and/or instruction.


 

ROBIN McCALL -- Seminary Librarian / Assistant Professor of Bibliography & Research

Robin holds an M.Div. from Baptist Theological Seminary, an MLIS from UNC—Greensboro, and a Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible from Princeton Theological Seminary. She started at Union Presbyterian Seminary in 2020 as the Reference librarian and has served since 2023 as Seminary Librarian. Her teaching focuses on helping students develop and implement information fluency — that is, practical research skills online and in the library and critical evaluation of source material.

 

 

CHRIS BATES -- Campus Librarian / Director of Facilities, Charlotte Campus

Chris holds an MLIS from the University of South Carolina and a BA in English and History from Presbyterian College. He was a librarian and manager at the Charlotte Public Library for 24 years and in a chief of staff role for Business Affairs at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for 10 years before starting at Union Presbyterian Seminary in 2024. Chris has lived in Charlotte since 1988 and is a library generalist who is knowledgeable about the Charlotte region's religious and community history and current library and community resources.
