Here at WSML, our Technical Services Department includes library acquisitions. We manage the purchasing, tracking, receiving, cataloging, and classifying, of all procured materials, for both physical books as well as electronic resources. For our print materials, our department is responsible for preemptive measures of protection to ensure that our resources remain durable and ready for use.

As Technical Services staff, it is important to us that library users can access the resources they need. If you have trouble locating books in our stacks or accessing electronic resources in our catalog, please let us know. A library of our size and scale relies on such feedback. If you can’t find what you are looking for, we want to know!

Book Donations

Technical Services sorts and processes book donations and determines if the content is aligned with our collection development policy before adding them to our shelves. Donated titles that are already a part of our collection are made available for students as a free resource. See the table in the atrium between the circulation desk and lower-level stairwell as well as the table in the lower-level between the stacks and periodical collection.

Periodicals/Serials:
Technical Services is responsible for the management of our periodical and serial subscriptions, verifying that each specific issue arrives as expected. To ensure long-term durability, we collect individual print issues and have them professionally bound into hardcover volumes for permanent storage in the lower-level stacks.
